"The NON-ADDITION" - The Owner's wish list, for their new addition, more than doubled the size of the original house. The combined impact of an existing rear addition (by others), and the new addition would certainly overwhelm this modest Colonial. We concluded the new addition should be transparent. In other words, the design strategy would allow the original house to expand seamlessly but maintain the appearance of a well-proportioned and harmonious whole. The result, a side-hall Colonial is transformed into an enhanced, enlarged center-hall version of the same.
