Schwarz Residence

We affectionately refer to this project as “This Old Garage”. The client had a common request for the new work. “We’d like an updated and larger kitchen opening on to a new garden room.“ In fact, an existing 2-car garage occupied the most enviable spot on the property. Private and exposed to the best views and sunlight, the garage overlooked a breath taking rear pool terrace and garden area. The solution was inevitable… recapture the existing garage for the new great room, break through the common wall to adjoin it with the kitchen, and find a new home for the cars. For resale value, our client insisted we accommodate three vehicles. However, to preserve scale and maintain a more flexible massing we settled on a modified version with 2 front-loading bays with one additional rear tandem space.
